Author Interview
Spreading the Magic Macy World …
Emma
The story is adventurous and full of imagination. Macy is a character kids can easily connect with and learn from, and the illustrations bring the story to life beautifully. What I liked most is that it mixes magic with meaningful lessons about friendship and courage.
Uncle Bunkle
On her 8th birthday Macy is visted by Princess Amelie of the Woodland people. She is seeking Macy's special abilities helping in emergencies. In this case, an ogre is destroying the forest. Wearing magic trainers, Macy steps right up. She travels the world until she finds the ogre (who is magnificently illustrated) and comes up with a solution -- planting palms in exchange for a promise of good behavior. This is a nice story for 5-8 year olds, with a laudable non-violent problem-solving wrapping things up.
SAID
Magic Macy and The Ogre is a cute and imaginative story that really captures the magic of childhood. Macy’s journey across landmarks and her encounters with magical friends kept my little girl curious from start to finish. The themes of kindness, bravery and teamwork shine through in a way kids can easily understand and the hand-drawn illustrations bring an extra charm to the story. It’s a lovely choice for bedtime or early readers who enjoy a touch of adventure mixed with heart.
Flo
A beautifully written book about a girl who's heart is full of love, kindness and determination. A magical adventure where she travels the world and saves the day. Fun, magical, and perfect to spark the imagination. Wonderfully illustrated to help bring the story to life. Great to read out loud and add more to the excitement.
Sarah G
Macy is a young girl who is chosen by a woodland fairy to save her home. The magic and whimsy in this story are engaging for young readers, and the bright illustrations with visits to different countries, invite lots of opportunities for language and learning. I really liked the gentle message of friendship and kindness throughout the story.
Kurt H
A beautiful adventure story. My daughter really liked the bright colored illustrations in this one. The books layout is very good and written exceptionally well and easy to read for young children. All in all a great book.
Goldie
We loved this story and went a step beyond when reading it by having a globe at hand. There was a lot of travelling to do, and my grandkids had an easier time imagining different countries and distances by finding the locations on a globe. The illustrations are great and common folks ... who wouldn't want a magical pair of running shoes!
